White Denim

For some reason I really want a pair of white denim skinny jeans and a pair of white cutoff jean shorts (jorts...). I think I've wanted them for a while but I'm kind of terrified of buying a pair of pure white pants because it'd be like wearing a liability. It's almost like asking to sit on something. But I'm kind of bored of my pants selection now so maybe a pair is in order...

I like the cut of these (but don't love the pocket design - not pictured). White jeans... very Victoria Beckham, it feels like. Or Blake Lively, maybe.

Look what I bought today for SKI SEASON WINTER 2010!!! AND THEY MATCH!! I love these goggles, looking through the yellow tint makes everything look so warm and happy.

Although now I really want one of those loud snowboarding/ski jackets and a pair of ski pants to match my accessories.

More Burberry Heels

I know I post about shoes too often, but ... could you die? Over the past few years I've noticed that Burberry makes the most to-die-for heels and wedges. You'd never expect it either, from a seemingly prim and proper company (or rather, stodgy and commercialized -- or at least ubiquitous -- to be unflattering). The shoes hit the perfect note in terms of height, materials, subtlety, and sexiness. It's almost better because it's unexpected of Burberry. I can't imagine someone wearing these and not feeling fabulous. Er, unless you don't like high heels. Whomp whomp.

Charlotte E. Watson

A Ms. Charlotte E. Watson is listed in the Columbia University Class of 2013 registry... Charlotte being Emma Watson's middle name. Sigh. Last I heard, she was going to Brown. I didn't even know that Penn was on the table. Maybe she thinks she'll be more anonymous in the city? But didn't she hear about the mice in student housing? The one-hour wait for a study carrel?? Er, I guess neither of these concerns really apply to her. I recall D. Radcliffe made $25 mil. for the upcoming Harry Potter movie, so she must have earned something at least comparable. So ... no NYC rats for her, I'm guessing. This news figment combines two of my previous posts (one about Emma and another about Columbia) but not in a way I particularly like, haha.

Also, Emma is on the latest cover of Teen Vogue (fresh and lovely) and she's the new face of the Burberry print ad campaign (smo[u]ldering, sophisticated). Really, not bad for 19. Not bad at all.

Fast Fashion Eye Candy

For a foray in the opposite direction, the following is a sample of quite inexpensive shoes available online. Perfect for finding less-guilt (in)destructible frat shoes.

1. Cute - could do without the buckle - but only useful if they fit very well/are easy enough to walk in. These look like something Gap or Old Navy would make.

2. The wood looks a bit over-lacquered but otherwise I love, love, love the look of velvet or velour on shoes. This is a pretty color, but I want a pair of velvet fuschia heels/wedges/flats.

3. A bit closer to stripper chic than I'd feel comfortable with, but if you can pull it off, more power to you!

4. Sweet and simple; look comfortable, good for summer, and red/standout enough to pair with any outfit.

5. Quite derivative... don't recall of what though. Marc Jacobs? I've def seen this before, though.

6. Speaking of derivative... haha. What was this, Balenciaga? But hey, there's a reason they were so popular in the first place. These shoes are hot.

7. Simple with enough texture/snakeskin pattern to keep it from being too boring. J. Crew, anyone?

8. Let me just whip these out for a quick run from my West Village address to the bodega down the block for a pack of cigs and some turkey jerky.

9. Nice, cute. Love suede shoes. Also available in many other delicious colors. But do note that suede is NOT Dartmouth-friendly.

10. Your avg. gladiator sandal with a bit more interest. I'm rather bored of this shape though.

16. Now here are some BOSS faux eel skin shoes. For some reason, I'm really into shoes of diff animal skins. And yes, it's as bad as it sounds. I really want a pair of stingray-skin shoes (er... eventually). The texture looks REALLY luxe.

17. Fine for work etc, unremarkable otherwise.

18. Timeless material and color, but ditto. The cut is a bit high for my liking.

19. Oh wow. I think this is toned-down stripper chic I could live with. What occasion would one wear this to, though? Maybe it's just after living at school for so long, it's hard to imagine walking around in these heels for running errands.

20. Winner winner chicken dinner. I really like the overlapping detail and how it's different than what I've seen elsewhere. I would/may actually get these.

21. Prob also good for work or errands if you like a low wedge heel? Unremarkable otherwise.

22. Also love this. Not crazy original, but I've wanted a pair of satin leopard flats for quite a while now. Perfect for this for fall!


In terms of my current lifestyle, # 22 and #20 are my favorite/the best for me. How about you? What do you think of these shoes? Oh and the sweetest part about fast fashion? Everything here is about $30 or less. Yum yum.

Marc Jacobs, You Done Good

Also, v. similar to a pair I had last year that I had to leave in China :(

I like them in gold, although the colorful one seems truer to Marc Jacobs' style and I think I'd get those instead of the gold ones. Wonder if I can find something similar for oh you know, not $897.

Also, I need new frat flats! (Cute, inexpensive throwaway shoes [literally, I just trashed my last pair] to wear at school.) Will post options maybe.

A Secret

So one of my secret desires/goals in life is to be depicted in one of the WSJ's photo-realistic sketches. It looks to me that there are two ways to achieve this - to be famous (e.g. Warren Buffet, who I'm sure has had his share of WSJ features) or to be infamous (I distinctly recall seeing Paris Hilton once).

This guy took the latter route (see FBI Arrests Danny Pang), but I wonder if he still has some sort of perverse pride in being featured. I mean, he looks pretty good here.


P.S. Way to run a Ponzi scheme, asshole. Today it was reported that sixteen thousand Taiwanese customers have invested money with Mr. Pang.
