How "trendy" of me

So my previous blush was Lorac and basically disappeared on my face after an hour, leaving me in winter wash-out mode and despair. Therefore, before leaving for the boonies of NH, I made a trip to Sephora to browse a new powdered life-giver.

I found Cargo's "Catalina," pictured above in front, and am in love! It stays on and is a perfect and fresh pink. Bright, but not in a bad way. Great with pale skin.

Anyway, I was reading "The Cut" over lunch today, I found that they, too, approved of the Cargo colors. What a coincidence.

Um...this "study" was sort of a waste of time.

On the Dartmouth homepage, along with articles about Jim Kim's first day as president (saw him speak on the Green yesterday and it was lovely!) is a sidebar listing an article that says: "Both Good and Bad movie characters who smoke influence teens to do the same."

Thanks, Dartmouth research! Who would've thought that smoking was made cool by the media? Glad money was spent on that one. Oh, and another thing: like, 5% of the Dartmouth student body actually smokes (I'm too lazy to verify that number). They should be posting articles like that on the NYU website. Or not publish it at all, and instead DO something if you don't want kids to smoke. Telling them that they are "influenced" won't help because students who smoke at the College already think of themselves as "different" and wouldn't admit to being followers.

What a balance, cigarette smoking: simultaneously following and diversifying.
I think the research group's take on the problem is intriguing, though: do good or bad guys influence people more?

Clubmasters

I am obsessed with my Ray-Ban Clubmasters.

Bought them in the fall and wear them every day. It goes along with my obsession with Mad Men (3rd season is starting in August!). 60's glasses=amazing

Little Boots New Album

Little Boots' new LP "Hands" leaked onto the internet two days ago and it's spread like the plague across the blogosphere (I guess it landed here, too). Definitely a combination of Annie, Kylie Minogue and Yelle in its combination of pop/disco/80's/chick music. Nothing wrong with that! Bubble gum has its place. The thing with Little Boots is there's a little bit of depth to it--it sounds like bubble gum but has some bitterness to it.

Download the single "Remedy". Perfect to play at a summer dance party. You'll see what I mean.

Phoenix

So I've had this mp3 of French band Phoenix "Everything is Everything" since like 4 years ago and all of a sudden, all of my indie-music-freak friends are hyping them up as if they're the new Animal Collective or something.

Unlike Animal Collective, Phoenix sounds more like a combination of Hot Hot Heat, Black Kids, Shout Out Louds, and, really, any fist-pumping indie band.

Listen up and you'll see exactly what I mean.

Good summertime music. A counterpoint to my obsession with Grizzly Bear's Veckatimest (which you HAVE to check out).
