Mad Men: Misery Loves Company

Happy Sunday! You know what this means: Mad Men and Next Iron Chef are on TV. You know it's bad when I label the days of the week with what shows I watch (okay, that's only true for Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday). Anyway, in these hard times, Mad Men has found a place in many viewers' television schedules, reflecting the fact that maybe we aren't searching for escapism through musicals and luxe films, but through depressing programming that makes us feel like we aren't the only ones in trouble.

But Bravo believes in escapist television shows, and TLC's almost fetishistic programs about weddings or extremely large families make me sick with how intensely they try to convince its viewers that their lives aren't that bad, you could have 18 kids and be a mermaid girl who has a domineering mother and a rainy wedding day.

With the escapism of today, I'd prefer to watch Mad Men. I'd prefer its temporal removal, beautiful people and unrealistic problems.

I've discovered

that I really like short, structurally interesting dresses in black or white. Feed me more! I don't think I have any though. But I don't think that's unusual -- that would be a very, very specific purchase and not necessarily the most wearable (or re-wearable) item. Anyway, that's what blogging is for. (Well, for now at least!!!).

Also, I more than a little bit want to be Joan from Mad Men for Halloween. But what would I wear? Mostly, really just want to wear a crazy, improbable wig.


Or being Betty Draper would be fun. These costumes sound time-intensive, though.


Or... I could always just be a mouse... duh.

Vanity Fair has written an article about Mad Men with wonderful pictorals. Of course, it was only a matter of time.

I'm not sure if it's because they played with Photoshop a touch too much, but doesn't it look like there's something... off in these photos with Jon Hamm and January Jones' faces? Maybe they just are better captured by video than camera...

Clubmasters

I am obsessed with my Ray-Ban Clubmasters.

Bought them in the fall and wear them every day. It goes along with my obsession with Mad Men (3rd season is starting in August!). 60's glasses=amazing
