Oscar Favorites

Zoe! Look how happy she looks to be wearing this confection. The colors, the sparkles, the textures... GORGEOUS! This was probably my favorite dress.

There's so much dress! I like that the dress extends way beyond her own body. (Armani Prive)

Simple and elegant but a little bit unexpected. The velvet is both contemporaneous and old school Hollywood. Well played.

Just a dreamy dress by Armani Prive -- floaty while still structured.

Predictable/expected, but she looks fabulous and well-styled, if a bit mature.

Diane Kruger does this style so well. She pulls it off.

Long sleeved. Jersey. Still looking good.

 Washed out print.

A column of color! Good to see some COLOR! Plus I love Dries Van Noten, he is the master of prints.

This dress complements her body. She looks happy, comfortable, glamorous.

The color is meh but Victoria Beckham always works it. Her own design.

SJP, sparkle, pale gold, winner.

  1. woooow our tastes differ so much this time around!

Zoe: Love the beading, but the bottom reminds me too much of a pinata/the kind of dress a blue person from Avatar would wear.
    Jlo: Good color, weird design
Kravitz: wtf why is she even pictured? did she act or something and I didn't realize it? anyway she looks ok...nice makeup i guess
Seyfried: Great except the neckline isn't the most flattering. She could have a better hairstyle, too (hers is too tight).
Miley: that dress would look great on someone else. she looks good but it's way too mature for her...maybe charlize theron (instead of that dior monstrosity she wore? blasphemy for me to say, but those chest things were weird...)
Streep: nothing new. she looks fine, but not oscar for the oscars.
McAdams: goooorgeouuuus in general. I love the print and the color and everything about it. and her hair/makeup are wonderful.
Maggie: I will agree with you on this. A great pop of color.
30Rock: Wish i could cut off that other sleeve OR attach another one on. the one-shoulder doesn't work for me in this case.
Beckham: good silhouette, ugly print/color. why the hell is she as the oscars and not me?
SJP: she looks HORRIBLE my GOODNESS bad hair, bad dress, bad skin tanner, needs to eat a bit more food. the pleat looks reall bad in the front AND she has to hold up the dress because it is too long on her. The best thing? The bangles.

Again, RDJ definitely looked the best last night.

  2. OOPS i forgot Kruger:

I know she's supposed to alllways wear chanel, but i really don't like this dress--it's trying to be turn-of-the-century with a faux bustle and more modern because of her exposed shoulders, but it comes off as some strange ruffle thingy that does nothing to flatter her. The best part is the black ruffle trim around the collar. I like that.

  3. Ugh it erased my long response!! Synopsis:

Zoe: The bottom is my favorite part. It looks like hydrangeas blooming. Her dress is young, lively, pretty, yet still couture and unexpected...
Tina Fey: At first the neckline threw me off too, but it works for her. It's enough of a risk that she still feels fine wearing it but isn't boring. My favorite part of her dress is at the bottom, where it pools a little at her feet. Glamorous.
Seyfried: That's not my favorite neckline either but I think it really MAKES the dress. It's a juxtaposition -- the neckline is so hard but the dress itself is so soft.
Maggie: The cut is a little boring though, wish it weren't one-or-the-other with these dresses.
McAdams: Gorgeous, but not too exciting. Makes her look a little older than she is.
Theron: I didn't think the dress design was too bad. But the color was ugly. Ugh like muted dusty rose ew.
SJP: One of her 'bangles' is a temporary tattoo! Sick. I think she looks great in this dress. In general, I think she's too thin, but it's cool how the dress completely obscures her figure... it looks like an actual column of fabric. The dress is really unique, too. The color is so perfect and the jewelery on it is really special.

Of all these, if I went to the Oscars (and was nominated...) I'd probably like to wear Zoe's dress the most.
