Twitter

I don't have an account and I'm not planning on getting one (I'm on the brink of deleting my facebook account), but what do you all think of Twitter? Do you have one? Why? Who do you follow?

I don't have a Blackberry, so that might be part of the reason why I'm not tuned into this kind of communication, the BBM'ing and so on. I like to leave voicemails and to email (I rarely have substantial conversations via text) and appreciate the separation I still maintain between a computer and a cell phone. Am I old-fashioned?

I wonder if my technological preferences will change in the next decade. Actually, I need not wonder--I know they will.

Anyway, check out this Times article about Twitter.

  1. Well I feel like if I already have a blog, why do I need Twitter? Plus I don't want to get sucked into that world. I'm already linked in enough. More than enough. So I don't see a need. But I guess that could change. Hopefully not, though.

  2. facebook has some appeal to people in terms of keeping in touch/updating, i can see that, but i find it creates the impression of friendship, it's an illusion. the keeping up with people far and wide part, w/o having to actually speak with them? ok, if that's how relationships survive...(i like skype much better, speaking of technology) the facebook friends? no...need a new word, friend isn't the right one...what's the right word?

twitter is a self absorbed mechanism for a self absorbed time....so
enough about me, let's talk about me :) that's twitter

blogs(good ones) are topical and surprising and about impressions and
    thoughts...they reflect a sensibility.....
