Celebrity fragrances. Some are good--I admit, I'm a proud owner of Britney Spears "Curious," but come on now, Akon is making two fragrances for the fall. It's OVERDONE. I remember walking into the Bloomingdale's fragrance section looking for a Van Cleef & Arpels fragrance, "Faerie," but the saleswoman thought I was asking for "one of those celebrity perfumes? We don't sell those here."Fragrances were originally introduced as a cheaper way for consumers to buy into the luxury lifestyle--a bottle of Chanel, a spritz of Dior. Now, celebrities are using them, perhaps thinking that consumers would like to buy into their lifestyles.
I buy what I think smells good, hence my collection ranging from Britney to Guerlain. But there are just some things I don't agree with, and that's a fragrance from Akon. Really? REALLY?
