I'm so sick of...

Celebrity fragrances. Some are good--I admit, I'm a proud owner of Britney Spears "Curious," but come on now, Akon is making two fragrances for the fall. It's OVERDONE. I remember walking into the Bloomingdale's fragrance section looking for a Van Cleef & Arpels fragrance, "Faerie," but the saleswoman thought I was asking for "one of those celebrity perfumes? We don't sell those here."

Fragrances were originally introduced as a cheaper way for consumers to buy into the luxury lifestyle--a bottle of Chanel, a spritz of Dior. Now, celebrities are using them, perhaps thinking that consumers would like to buy into their lifestyles.

I buy what I think smells good, hence my collection ranging from Britney to Guerlain. But there are just some things I don't agree with, and that's a fragrance from Akon. Really? REALLY?

Swine Flu

I know we're a little behind the curve of the whole swine flu craze, but here's an idea I've been meaning to share (I know I'm not the only one to have come up with this). A way to jumpstart consumerism during this time of economic strife is to make designer FACEMASKS.

NYMag and the Times have both come to this conclusion as well. See below!

Ew this is horrid. This reader needs to read the blog a bit more carefully. Although -- how timely! I'm going golfing on Friday with Women in Business at the Hanover Country Club. I will keep this in mind as to what not to wear.
